For the first time in a long time more than 400,000 people took part in Merdeka celebrations. The only problem was half went for Bersih 4 the other half went to the Merdeka Parade.
Look at the 4 pictures and tell me what do you see. I see brilliant political manouvering by Zahid. Basically he just check mated all your hopes.
For the first time ever there was no tear gas at a non-government rally.
And then the government quietly moved the annual pre-merdeka concert from Dataran to Bukit Jalil. hey let go of their ego for once. And yet people still attended that concert despite the change. And there was a bigger crowd than usual at this morning's parade.
You know why I was mumbling about how ill-timed Bersih 4 was? Coz you made people choose.
One side choose going against the government for the country. The other side choose to honour the king and the country. Both love the country but both made statements you're not willing to hear.
Bersih 4 has just divided the country into Chinese vs Malay. Urban vs Rural Folks. (sorry Indians your numbers don't matter, live with it. You matter when it comes to the elections, and thats why both sides court you ONLY then).
Its a classic case of whats important to you is not important to them. You don't see the importance of the Merdeka Parade as for the urbanite, it symbolises the government not the country.
Most of you have never gone for it, coz its not your 'thing'. For the rest, the Merdeka Parade symbolises country and King, and rightfully so. Daulat Tuanku is not something fashionable as it seems to be now for you Urban folks. The moment a royal doesnt support your message, you're going to go back to "royalty is not relevant'.
For the small town/ kampung folks it means something more sacred, the royalty matter. The King is an important symbol for most people.
There are only 8 million people in the Klang Valley versus 22 million Malaysians across the country. Half of the people in Klang Valley aren't even registered voters in the Klang Valley. Have you seen how empty the city gets during Raya and CNY?
When will you learn that you don't represent the rest of the country? When will you stop alienating the rest of the country who don't think like you?
When will you stop ridiculing people who don't think like you? You think Kampung folks don't know how to use the internet? You think kampung folks only read UTUSAN?
If you actually sat down and asked them their view, you will realise they are aware of a lot of things. But what would you know, you just want to talk and make people listen to you. if not they're your enemy.
The opposition didn't lose GE13 just coz of BN. They lost it coz they are not relevant to the rural folks.
You come in with your high horses, you put in urbanites to stand in small towns, and sabah sarawak. people who know nothing about local culture and local needs and you expect them to vote for you?
Apa yang dia membebel tu? That's what they probably whispered and politely smiled at you. That's why people like Bung (so repulsive) win every election. Coz he actually cares for his people and will go down to the ground to help them.
Look at Malaysian Insider and Malaysiakini, where are the reports on Merdeka Parade? You complained mainstream media subdued reports on Bersih 4, but the other side does the same thing. There is no such thing as a neutral media, is there?
And people are watching this silently. A government that has never responded well to rallys against it lets it go on for 34 hours without any reaction and you're not worried?
You just fell in the biggest and smartest trap set by BN. You made people choose and now they're divided by race and status quo.
Good luck trying to win GE14 - you just split the votes.
